BBI: Russian billionaires lose $4.1 bln on August 10

MOSCOW, Aug 13 (PRIME) -- The combined fortune of Russia’s 23 billionaires fell U.S. $4.137 billion as trading closed on August 10 after presidential aide Andrei Belousov suggested additional up to 500 billion rubles a year taxes on some metals, petrochemical, and fertilizer producers, as calculated by PRIME on Monday based on data of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI).

The bulk of the sum, $3.091 billion, was lost by 11 billionaires, whose assets were included into the “Belousov list.”

The wealth of Vladimir Lisin, the main beneficiary owner of steel maker NLMK, decreased by $832 million to $18.3 billion, while the wealth of Viktor Rashnikov, the main beneficiary owner of metals holding MMK, and Alexei Mordashov, the main beneficiary owner of steel maker Severstal, fell by $446 million and $443 million, respectively.

Vladimir Potanin, one of the main shareholders of metals giant Norilsk Nickel, lost $290 million, while Andrei Melnichenko, the majority shareholder of fertilizer producer EuroChem and Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK), lost $143 million.
